    • Hi, I'm new here. Posting to see if members of local SAB's or SCP's are active in this forum.

I'm a QA Officer working in the Business Unit for a joint safeguarding Board and Partnership.

It would be good to connect with peers for knowledge sharing.

    • Hi all,

My name is Ollie, I work at Tes and wanted to let you all know about an exciting event taking place soon...it's Safeguarding Awareness Week!

From 22-28 May we're hosting our second annual Safeguarding Awareness Week. During this week we’re encouraging teachers and children alike to Speak, Shout and Share. Promoting the importance of children knowing who they can speak to about any issues they may be facing and feeling free, able and confident to approach them to share concerns and seek support. To help achieve these goals during the week we have a number of things happening....

      - We're be hosting a free PSHE live lesson  for KS2 classes with our fellow host, NSPCC Schools Coordinator, Gemma Rose. She will lead our lesson which explores how children can stay safe, develop healthy relationships and discover what support is available to them through a series of interactive scenarios.

      - We've also develop a set of teaching activities for all age ranges to help identify people children can speak to. The worksheets have been designed to initiate conversations and discussions among children to help promote the importance of talking and sharing any problems or issues.

      - During the week we'll also be revealing the results of our survey of school staff to find out their thoughts on the current state of safeguarding in schools. Last year the survey revealed that 23% of school staff do not think pupils feel safe at their school and that 25% of school staff do not feel confident in handling reports of sexual harassment, abuse or violence.

And these are just the highlights, there will be much more taking place before and during the week.

I'll post more in the coming weeks to keep everyone updated but you can find out more about all of the above and register for updates via this link - https://www.tes.com/en-gb/for-schools/safeguarding-awareness-week

      Thanks everyone!
